ROOM TOUR: A bold & quirky bedroom

guest-1.jpg

Hello and happy weekend! Whew! What a week! I’m fairly new to the blogging world and Holiday season is no joke, ya’ll! I = busy (the busiest I’ve ever been)!

Anyways, I’m happy to share another fun room reveal today – our guest bedroom! You might remember I gave this room a quick and dirty face-lift earlier in the year, but the room felt a little soul-less to me and needed some personality (or lots of personalities!). As my styling/designing skills have evolved and changed over the years, I’ve come to realize that (for me) every room needs something vintage and a bit of color/texture.

guest-5.jpg

Let’s start things off with that incredibly fun wallpaper from Chasing Paper. I’m a huge fan of their products - the papers are so well made and the designs are equally amazing. And this is not sponsored! This particular style is called Vintage Art and its from their capsule collection with Graduate Hotels. I love the playfulness and the way it really does make this room feel like a boutique hotel, which I am here for!

ART FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: 70’s short haired lady / gentleman with a pipe / balding man / 70’s blue dress lady / lady with round glasses / lady in an orange dress / lady with red earrings

My husband thought it was strange that I was hanging pictures of faces on top of other faces, but I told him to just wait and go with it…and…I kinda love it! The art is part vintage (from this and this shop) and part vintage-inspired. All of the new pieces are by artist Janet Hill, who has this very thoughtful and nostalgic style that I adore! She has several pieces for sale on Artfully Walls.

I also got a new upholstered platform bed from Poly & Bark. I love the modern, low-profile style and the tufting adds a touch of sophistication. We did end up selling all the old things we replaced, including the bed frame, lamps and nightstands so that made this update feel a bit more intentional.

guest-7.jpg

Also, let’s talk about the nightstands and the table lamps! The nightstand is a really good one from my old pal, Target. No assembly required and it seems pretty darn well-made for the price! I was also super impressed with the cuteness of those table lamps from Anthro! I love the subtle and unexpected pattern and texture on them.

Moving on to the other side of the room is my little reading/scrolling Instagram corner! (ha). I have been eyeing/stalking that Rattan chair from Serena & Lily for years and I finally pounced when they had their Black Friday sale this year. I looooove it and it looks great in all rooms! I may get another one for my own bedroom!

And that little zig-zag accent table from Target is awesome! I have used it in several places as well and it works with so many decor styles!

I swapped out the light for this simple + modern beauty from School House (which I already had) and kept surfaces pretty simple with books and that amazing candle from Otherland. I’m obsessed with their branding and packaging too and the candle has the freshest scent!

Here’s a more pulled back view from the door. It feels eclectic but still modern and simple at the same time. That’s the goal, anyways!

What do you guys think? I’d love to know your thoughts!

I’ve rounded up most of the sources below!

My soft & cozy holiday look with the UGG Home Collection from Bed Bath & Beyond

This post is sponsored by Carusele for #UGGatBBB at Bed Bath & Beyond. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting content that keeps Sunny Circle Studio going!

bbb-ugg-1.jpg

Man, I love the holidays. I’m that person who puts up their Christmas tree in mid-July and watches re-runs of Elf for a whole weekend. Well, to be fair I did that once, but I really do love this time of year! I love all the delish treats, the Elvis Christmas album, Home Alone 2, egg nog and seeing the excitement on my kid’s faces as the big day approaches! And I really love the decorations, specifically for the tree!

And speaking of lovely holiday decor, I was lucky enough to get to test out some of the soft and cozy holiday pieces from the UGG Home Collection at Bed Bath & Beyond this year. And my tree (and living room) are very happy about it.

Let’s dive into the details!

bbb-ugg-2.jpg

My tree is classically decked out in all the soft texture! It’s basically wearing a fur coat! I chose to stick to simple neutral tones but with pops of color in the form of that festive red hue! I’m not one to go for a lot of red, but I love it in small doses as it has a lot of impact. This year, I’m going with a palette of redwood and snow. The yummy texture and color from the Layne Chunky Knit Button Throw Pillow paired with the Classic Cable Knit Christmas Tree Ornaments and garland on the tree is the perfect balance in this room. I also paired the Talia Christmas Tree Skirt with a woven tree collar and I love the mix of textures. The Talia Christmas Tree Skirt is plush, snow colored faux fur. It is so luxe under the tree!

bbb-ugg-4.jpg

And speaking of cable knit. I filled my tree with these soft and cozy neutral cable knit ornaments and amped up the coziness even more with layers of the Wren Holiday Garland. I don’t think a tree has ever been so ready for the snow!

bbb-ugg-5.jpg

And if things couldn’t get more cozy, let’s throw (no pun intended) this amazingly soft and luxurious Poppy Throw Blanket into the mix for good measure! It is light weight with a chic long trim and is perfect for gift giving. My dog has already tried to claim it as his bed and my kids have already wrapped themselves up in it for movie night. We are blanket people in this house and I’m determined to keep this as my own! (ha).

bbb-ugg-6.jpg
bbb-ugg-7.jpg

To tie it all together, I made a TJ’s run and grabbed some festive flowers to play off of the reds in the decor. Flowers, cozy texture and twinkle lights forever!

bbb-ugg-3.jpg

What do you guys think? I loved how the simple pops of colors and textures from these pieces gave this room just enough holiday cheer without going full Clark Griswold (who I love, by the way).

This collection is really good, folks especially if you are into cozy and happy and who isn’t? Check out the entire UGG Home Collection here or stop by Bed Bath & Beyond!

Wishing you all very happy holidays!

2018 Holiday gift guide: for the kiddos

I’m joining in on all the blogger fun and sharing some gift guides this year in hopes that it might help some folks out there looking for cute things for their loved ones!

gifting-graphic.jpg

First up, the littles! Specifically I chose items for kids in the younger ages (3-7). Since becoming a mother, shopping for my kids (ages 6 and 3) around the holidays has become my main priority (sorry friends and other family members..lol). Not to say I don’t purchase for others, but the kids LOVE this time of year and get so excited, so naturally I’m going to start with their needs first!

Full disclaimer…I chose lots of really cute and artisan-type items in my gift guide (not a lot of plastic and character stuff) which is not to say my kids don’t love that and want all that crap! They totally do want all the Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig and Lego Batman in the world, but since this is a style and design-y type space, I’m going with the cute stuff!

Hope you enjoy! Come back tomorrow for all my favs for the women in your life!

The happy Nola home: the living room

Welcome to the happiest of living/dining rooms in all of New Orleans! I’m so excited to share this space with you guys! It’s all the things I love in a room: bright, cheery, modern with a side of vintage! Before we get into all the details, let’s take a peek at how the room started out during the renovation state:

IMG_8695.jpeg

This space originally started out as 2 smaller bedrooms, but my clients tore some walls down and converted it to this glorious open space! Isn’t that just the best view, ever (below)?

big-side-kitchen-4-low.jpg

The main goal throughout the whole house was to keep the finishes and the decor cohesive with a good flow and maintain a modern and happy vibe. My clients didn’t want a lot of stuff cluttering up the place, but they did want their home to feel warm and inviting and lived-in.

big-side-living-6-low.jpg

The magic of white walls (all painted BM Chantilly Lace) with pops of beautiful color make the place feel so special and full of life. We included a bunch of rugs and textiles from New Orleans artist Alysestudios and they were just perfect in this home, providing color, texture and that vintage charm and character. You guys know I love West Elm (and so did my clients) so we turned to them for a lot of the furniture you see throughout the house. I love the fresh & modern aesthetic and I’m obsessed with that Roar + Rabbit swivel chair!

When I arrived at the house, that wall (pictured above) was empty apart from the TV and the media console. We kinda scratched our heads as to what to do with it since it was quite large and a bit awkward. Decorating around a black box is tricky and did I mention the 13’ ceilings? I’ve always found a gallery wall to be a good solution for a TV area, so it was all systems go designing and curating that bad boy.

I don’t remember how many hours we spent trying to carefully plan it out (it was many and gallery walls aren’t easy in my opinion) but I feel pretty good about how it all turned out. We used a bunch of Jenny’s Print Shop prints (what a great resource for affordable and downloadable art!) as well as a few pieces I brought from home and some my client had on hand. We wanted to capture some of the Nola spirit in the art, so we made sure to use a few local pieces as well like the Soul Rebels poster and the Grove Street Press New Orleans shotgun print.

The whole experience in New Orleans was so great and I love the way the house turned out! My clients are happy too, which is the icing on the cake!
