For a quick history lesson: Caned furniture has been around for a long time (like centuries) but it became especially popular thanks to Thonet. His No. 14 chair from 1859 revolutionized the furniture industry by creating a light and airy design that was both inexpensive to produce and transport. It’s been well-loved ever since!
