ROOM REVEAL: a bright & peaceful bedroom

Even though I love my things – the extra pillows, candles, trays, flowers, gallery walls, trinkets, vessels, etc that we as stylists add to a room to make it feel ‘decorated’, I find an enormous sense of calm and lightness from a minimal space. One that doesn’t need a ton of stuff and can shine on its own with a few simple decor touches and a good balance of negative space. It helps if the house/room has beautiful bones and amazing architectural details but it’s not a requirement.

I had the chance to style a few rooms in the most beautifully restored 1920’s home including this college kid’s bedroom, which actually does have all those amazing classic details (like all of the door hardware! swoooon!) When I first toured the room, they had just moved in so we basically had a blank slate to work with. The goal was to keep things simple, comfortable, stylish (of course!) with a nod to golf, which is a passion of his.

He comes home from time to time and wanted a simple and comfortable place to rest on the weekends. So comfort was the name of the game!

Let’s hit the main highlights:

The bedding

We started with the comfiest mattress ever and I know because we have one as well and it’s basically like sleeping on clouds! Add in the softest and luxe feeling bedding from the Hearth & Hand collection (which is always classically fabulous + affordable) and place it all on a simple metal bed frame and call it a day!

And that grid lumbar pillow is everything! This is the second time I’ve used it in a client space and I’m hooked! They are currently out of stock, but hopefully, they will re-stock soon!

The Art

So I mentioned before that my client is an avid golfer and wanted a stylish way to reflect that in his space, since it’s such a big part of his life. Now mind you – I know nothing about golf but by happy accident, I stumbled on the coolest small shop, Lie + Loft who specialize in golf + design and also happened to be local! We used their Q U I E T print in this room and I love the double meaning behind it.

The Reading Nook

This little space really came together by shopping my client’s home, my garage inventory and a quick little trip to Home Goods, which is always fun! I do think this space could benefit from a rug, specifically something soft and furry but it still feels cozy and welcoming!

I’m really feeling the minimal vibes here! The simple decor and those lovely architectural are what’s good! And not to mention everything is pretty affordable and what we didn’t but, we re-purposed!

I hope you enjoyed this little room and if you are curious, I’ve rounded up the sources below:
