A Dreamy Primary for Newlyweds
Our recently married clients reached out wanting our help transforming his former relatively bland bachelor suite into a warm and welcoming sanctuary that successfully incorporates both of their styles and preferences. For her, that meant adding some color and personality—making it an inviting space for rest and recuperation. For him, that meant keeping the existing carpet and oversized dresser.
The Before: Where We Started
The Mood Board: Our Starting Point
The Floor Plan: Making the Most of the Space
We started by flipping the layout of the room, moving the bed and TV to the opposite walls. This not only enhanced the room’s natural light (since the nightstands were no longer visually blocking the bottom of the windows) but also made better use of the longer—and allowed us to add wall paneling behind the bed to further customize the space and tie in with the tray ceiling.
And since that ceiling feature already draws the eye up, we couldn’t resist filling that space with a fun, colored geometric chandelier.
Next, to balance all of the straight angles of the room—along with those of their existing dresser—we selected several white furniture pieces with big curves and rounded edges to soften the space.
The Paint: Let There Be Color
We brought the walls to life with Benjamin Moore Aegean Teal. This rich-yet-restrained blue-green, and similarly colored velvet curtains, help amplify the luxe feel of the space.
To give the existing wood dresser some new life—and better integrate it with the rest of the design—we swapped out the knobs for these adorable flower-shaped ones. A quick and easy upgrade!
Patterns and textures in the rug and bedding, as well as the nature-inspired artwork, help to bring it all together. Thanks to our amazing clients who trusted the process—and us! We couldn’t be happier with how this dreamy retreat turned out and can’t wait to start on their kids’ bedrooms next.
