Style Spotlight: RAINBOWS

My daughter’s favorite color is rainbow. I think it’s mine now too. I’ve rounded up a very bright and happy collection of pieces that incorporate that wonderful symbol of unity, hope and beauty.

zora-bedroom-3-blog.jpg

There is an undeniable effect of joy caused by the appearance of a rainbow. It’s an amazing natural phenomenon that also doubles as a sign of hope, unity, acceptance and LOVE. And I just love the uplifting and positive message so much.

So in the spirit of brightening up this gloomy and cold Friday in February, I gathered up a collection of really cool pieces in rainbow colors and patterns! And being that this is a style blog, I had to include an array of things to put in your home and on your body, all with a rainbow theme.

RAINBOWS = LOVE. And I am here to spread a tiny little bit of that in my corner of the internet.

Get into the list below and have a beautiful weekend, friends!

A Bedroom upgrade with Annie Selke

I teamed up with one of my fav brands to add some cozy + comfy style to my bedroom.

AS-sunny-bedroom-3-low.jpg

Over the years and especially as a parent, I have really come to appreciate having my own space to sleep/read/relax/watch tv that is separate from the rest of the house. We can call it my own personal oasis – a place for resting, relaxing, snuggling with your partner and recharging after a long ass day. And we all need that, especially now!

And getting to that place in our bedroom, aesthetically has taken some time to…let’s say mature. I’ve always wanted it to feel relaxed, comfortable, not too fussy or fancy with a hint of quirk and a good dose of balance. With the help from my friends at Annie Selke, I think our bedroom feels pretty close to that description!

Let’s get into it!

AS-sunny-bedroom-8-low.jpg

Getting to work with Annie Selke was such a dream! They have the most beautiful bedding, colorful textiles and coziest rugs. I mentioned balance earlier and I find that to be really important when incorporating different patterns + textures. I love to play with scale and keep my patterns evenly distributed throughout the room for optimal balance. Having solids and larger + simple shapes mixed with busier patterns will help to ground the space and give your eyes a visual rest.

AS-sunny-bedroom-12-low.jpg

I was instantly drawn to the color and the botanical pattern in the linen duvet! I love how it feels a bit more traditional and old-worldly especially paired with the other more modern pieces in the room.

For the grounding element, I chose that amazingly soft and cozy Moroccan-inspired woven wool rug. The simple geometric pattern plays so nicely with the busier patterns in the room. The magic of the mix, y’all!

And we can’t have a cozy bedroom without a throw blanket or two, right? The level of whimsy and adorableness of that cotton pompom blanket is off the charts! And they have lots of color options too! Those little baubles always make me smile when I come into this room.

A roundup of really cute computer desks

Does your home office need a refresh? I’ve rounded up 18 stylish computer desks in a variety of price points!

With the world still largely under quarantine and as more and more of us continue to work from home, having a good home office set up is crucial! I find that having an organized desk (although lately, this is a magical unicorn in my home) keeps me grounded, clear-headed and improves my focus.

Because, let’s face it – working from home with your entire family all together 24/7 can be a bit maddening at times. There are so many distractions in every direction. I might also describe it as chaos or a beautiful mess for the glass half full folks! lol :) Don’t misunderstand – I know how lucky we are to be able to work from home during this pandemic. I’m grateful for our home and our safety! But I should also add … we are currently in the throws of (temporary) virtual school and it’s a lot right now so forgive me!

OK. Back to the desks!

When I refreshed my office a few years back, I knew I wanted to upgrade to a ‘big girl desk’. My 10-year-old Ikea desk was showing a bit of age so I sold it and started my search for the perfect grown-up desk. This is the desk I chose, and I LOVE it, but in my searching, I saved a bunch of other really good desks that were either out of my price range/wrong shape/wrong size/etc

The list below is pretty badass if I do say so myself. I mean, for desks….:) There are a variety of price points, orientations and all of them have that modern + classic style!

If you are in the market…dare I say check em out below.

And see my other desk round-up of writing desks under $250 if you are looking for something a bit smaller and more affordable!

Thanks for reading, ya’ll!

xx
Erin

New project reveal: a reimagined wellness studio

Come take a tour of my former office turned new home gym!

rebounder / floor mats / Frame TV / bench / wall color / millwork / wall mirrors / chandelier / floor lamp / curtain panels / roman shades / wallpaper

I would have never imagined being the kind of person who would want to put a fitness room in the center of her home….but here we are. Pandemic life, right?!

The Fitness Story

So before we get to the real reason you are here (to see pictures and get sources, of course!) I want to briefly explain the reason why I decided to put a gym in the middle of my home. :) Let’s take it back to this time last year….my depression was at an all-time high as was my weight, not to mention my self-confidence was in the toilet. I didn’t feel beautiful and I really didn’t feel happy either. Also, I was about to turn 40. Some might describe this as a mid-life crisis. I think that is part of it, but also I felt lost, uninspired and tired in general. I wanted to feel good + strong, have energy and feel like the best version of myself. Not to mention being able to fit into my old jeans! (forgive my vanity!)

So I made a commitment to eat healthier (I joined Noom and loved it), move my body every day, and truly focus on taking care of myself both mentally and physically. I did this at the beginning of 2020 and would often get my workouts in at the YMCA. And then Covid happened and all the gyms closed. whomp whomp. So I started running outside and doing YouTube fitness videos in my kitchen in the middle of virtual lessons for my kiddos (which was HELL)…lol…But I made it work and slowly started to see and feel progress.

So how did the idea of the gym come about?

The Gym Story

It was actually my husband’s idea! And at first, I thought no way! What about resale value? Will it looks strange for the gym to be the first room you see when you enter our house? Also, I loved my office as is. Where was I going to put that amazing desk or my modern leather sofa or the Christmas tree?! In normal times, this design direction would have been questionable, but we are living in the days of Covid! So throw the rules out the window and let’s build a gym! Besides, no one is coming into my home anytime soon!

The Design Story

And now the fun part! I knew I wanted the room to function as a home gym but also to be an extension of the style and aesthetics of our home. Here is my original sketch:

I wanted to keep that amazing moody blue color (Farrow & Ball Hague Blue) but add on to it a bit with some custom wall moldings to accent the mirrors and large Frame TV I was planning to install. My husband and I teamed up and tackled the accent wall together. I watched a couple of how-to videos on installing picture molding (get a nail gun!) and after a couple of false starts (and many trips to Lowes) we knocked it out in a couple of weekends. I’m going to talk about this process in more detail in another blog post in case you are curious!

But for now, let’s get into the meat of this post and enjoy the final results:

Those incredible drawings are the work of my lovely and talented friend Monika, of ZigZag Studio Design. I love how they give a nod to the body form while also adding warmth and personality.

gym-10.jpg

It would be remiss of me to not mention that rebounder and my devotion to LEKFIT! We completed the studio in late summer/early fall which was right about the time I started regularly started streaming their classes. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had working out, not to mention it’s also a killer full-body workout!

And if you are wondering if I actually use it and love it, the answer is YES!! It’s amazing, comfortable, convenient and I feel genuinely lucky to have this space to work out in every day! Actually, the whole family gets in on the fun! I truly feel like it’s been one of the best upgrades (to my home/life) to date!

I hope you enjoyed this post and may it inspire you to live a healthier life in the new year!

DIY marbled clay ornament

diy-scandi-clay-ornament-square-2.jpg

Hello friends!

I had a realization the other day that I should totally start adding design-forward craft projects to this blog since I’ve been spending quite a bit of my own time creating things and getting my hands dirty! I mean..are you like me and doing allll the crafts during this pandemic? If not, that is TOTALLY COOL too but I’m into it. Like really into it. Clay, weaving, painting, embroidery, paper flowers, coloring, jewelry, beads, paper folding..the list goes on and on! To be fair, I was an art major back in the day and design really does translate across so many verticals including home decor!

So without further ado, let’s kick this new concept into gear with my first decently successful DIY:

Scandi Marbled Clay Ornament

Supplies: (I ordered a few things online and then went to a craft store for the others.)

oven bake clay – white, grey and another darker color for the marbling effect
rolling pin
parchment paper
star cookie cutters
clay modeling tools
paper straws
wooden beads
leather cording

DIRECTIONS:

1. Gather the above items and start with a clean work surface.
2. Roll out your white, light grey and black clay (or any darker color) into tubes and twist them around.
3. Using a rolling pin, roll out the clay, squish it up into a ball, work/knead it a bit with your hands to get the colors blending together, and then roll it out again. Do this a couple of times to get the desired marble effect.
4. Once your clay is happy, grab the cookie cutters and start stamping away! I would aim for the thickness of the clay to be about 1/8 to 1/4 inches.
7. Use a modeling tool to smooth out any imperfections from your nails and fingerprints.
6. Use a paper straw to create holes for the string to go through. Gently push down straight into the clay and twist it slightly for a clean edge. Line a cookie sheet with some parchment paper.
7. Pop them in the oven at 225 degrees for 15 minutes.
8. Once they have cooled off, grab your leather cording and your wooden beads and your best knotting skills and thread the beads down in whatever design you choose.
9. And there you have it! EASY! Pop it on the tree and enjoy :)

This is a great activity to do with your kids this weekend or if you need a last-minute gift idea for a friend or teacher (I made these for my kid’s teachers). It doesn’t require all that much time or effort but the end result looks pretty great!

Let me know in the comments if you get crafty this weekend and want to try this out. It’s a lot of fun!

Thanks for reading friends!

2020 holiday gift guide: for the kids

kids-gift-guide.jpg

Hello and happy Sunday!

I’m back again with another holiday gift guide – this time for the kiddos! I really loved putting this one together! I had my kids vet this list and I got a lot of positive feedback, although my son did say there were too many “girl” toys. ha! 8 year olds…

I hope the list is well balanced enough to find something for kids of various ages and genders…

A few standouts:

I’ve fallen in love with making necklaces + bracelets again thanks to my daughter’s collection of beads and strings. I found this kit and I love that it comes with a custom case!

More baby Yoda please!

We recently got this board game and it’s so fun! We’ve been enjoying more family game nights.

I’m obsessed with this doll house! I know it’s a bit spendy so here is an alternative that didn’t make it on the list (but is just as cute).

A ninja warrior obstacle course! Need I say more? haha. If you have climbers in the family….this is going to make their year! (full disclosure we bought one of these for Wyatt and I know he is going to love it! )

How adorable is the kid’s size suitcase?! So chic! And could double as decor :)

We’ve had this fella since Zora was born (5 years!) and she still loves it and plays with him daily.

Same goes for this adorable little unicorn friend. We love love Cuddle + Kind!

2020 holiday gift guide: for him

guys-gift-guide.jpg

I’m back again today with another gift guide installment – this time for the guys in your life. I basically shopped for my husband and translated that here. lol! But I think this list is pretty good.

A few standouts:

This chess set! It’s made of marble and gorgeously modern and my husband actually does love to play chess. This is the one gift I have purchased so far.

I love that throwback (faux) fur-lined trucker jacket!

We have this Bluetooth speaker in our office and it’s wonderful and fits with about any decor style!

A quick and easy way to display personal photos (for the lazy person who never prints them) (which is me and my husband).

Baby Yoda, chia pet edition! This is just silly and adorable fun and how can anyone not love that face!

My holiday-ready warm + cozy living room

scotties-scs-1.jpg

leather chair / rug / throw / tree / tree collar / plush tree skirt / print / pine garland / wooden garland / candle holders / flameless candlesticks / mirror / sconce

I can’t believe it’s November! This year has flown by in a very strange and surreal way. And what a year! Given the stress and uncertainty of the current time, I decided it would be a very good idea to get the holiday party started early because extra joy and cheer is something we all need! Also, decorating is a huge stress reliever for me…so there you go!

I teamed up again with my friends at Scotties and got to mix in a couple of their beautifully designed tissue boxes from the Genevieve Gorder collection with all of my own holiday decor. And it all blended together beautifully. I’m a big fan of Genevieve’s and really love how she plays with natural textures, a bit of sparkle and Scandinavian patterns in her designs – which is 100% in my own design wheelhouse!

scs-scotties-3.jpg
scotties-scs-2.jpg
scs-scotties-7.jpg

The subtle patterns and elegant designs are wonderful to have on basically any surface. I played around with a few of the designs in my living room for that extra holiday touch, but these can be put anywhere! And I love that most of the designs are more winter-themed so they can last well into spring. Bonus points!

scs-scotties-5.jpg
scs-scotties-6.jpg

And one more thing…these tissues are really soft! Like triple soft! I’m one of those people who always need a tissue close by so having a box in every room is ideal! This year’s collection with Genevieve Gorder will be offered with Scotties Triple Soft tissues that have three layers of softness for ultimate protection, which sounds about right going into the harsh winter months when cold and flu season is at its worst.

scs-scotties-8.jpg

If you want to check out the entire collection and find out where you can get a few boxes for yourself, head here. And there is even a promo code to save on your first purchase!

And If you want to shop this look, I’ve got a roundup below.

27 things that brought me joy in 2020

2020. Whew, what a year!

With all the things going on in the world this year – from the crazy political atmosphere to the financial uncertainties, the virtual school life, and of course the pandemic in general, I’ve needed some distractions and stress relief. And that has come in many forms for me such as fitness, organizing, facemasks, time for arts + crafts, music and shopping!

And I want to chat today about the last one – SHOPPING! And also browsing, because window shopping can be a very fun past time too. lol! Now to be clear I’m not saying that buying all the things will bring you a deep sense of happiness and security during these challenging times. For me, It’s a coping mechanism that gives me a sense of hope (something to look forward to) and a tiny sense of control over my own destiny. Basically, it keeps my mind off the chaos in the world and gives me something fun to do. Maybe that sounds a bit silly, but in the time of COVID 19, all bets are off!

A lot of things on this list are related to my other forms of stress relief….for example my favorite pair of leggings for working out (they feel like a second skin!), my new affinity for coloring books, this little case to hold my fav colored pencils and this facial treatment (which was one of the best I’ve ever used – basically an at-home facial). Other things just make me happy or make my life a bit easier like this eyeliner (another best I’ve ever used type of item) or this body oil which not only smells amazing but has really helped to ease redness and inflammation from shaving.

So if you are in need of a little pick-me-up or just want to click around and look, the full list is below.

My new go-to source for amazing, affordable hand-made rugs + a 10% off code!

scs-revival-4-warm.jpg

Well, hello there!

How are you? It’s been a minute since I have posted in this space. 2020, right?! Whew, what a year!

To distract you from the madness of the country right now – let’s talk rugs. Specifically vintage, hand-made rugs…because they are my go-to decor item to bring in all the warm, cozy, colorful, textural, interesting, unique, eclectic and diverse vibes into your home. And who doesn’t want that??

This brings me to my new discovery – I stumbled upon Revival while sourcing vintage rugs for a client and I’m so happy I did! They have a beautiful selection of one-of-a-kind rugs in many different styles and affordable price points. Vintage rugs are PRICEY. Especially the bigger + older ones with beautiful colors and shapes. I was delighted was to find affordable options from Revival.

scs-revival-1.jpg

In addition to having a great selection of rugs, I love what they stand for. They believe that buying a high-quality rug should be smooth, transparent, and affordable. And they really stress the importance of quality. All of their rugs are handmade with traditional techniques, natural fibers, and no superfluous markups.

I mentioned vintage rugs and they have those too! Lots of beautiful one-of-a-kind selectiond, made between 30 and 100 years ago, and curated by Revival. Ooh la la!

scs-revival-3.jpg

I found that gorgeous Persian rug and knew it would be perfect in my master bathroom. I love how the colors warm up the space and balance all the whiteness in the room. Soo good!

And that pink vintage Moroccan stunner! Again, the colors are everything! I love the edge it brings to a very classic kitchen.

I would highly recommend you head on over and check em out! It’s rug heaven and to help you along your way, use the code SUNNYCIRCLE10 to get 10% off your purchase (+ free shipping!) Vintage rugs make great gifts! :)

And as usual, I’ve rounded up some of my favs below in case you want to get straight into it!

Happy rug hunting, friends, and thanks for reading!

6 EASY TIPS TO DRESS UP YOUR FRONT DOOR

Hey guys!

I’m back after a bit of a break from the blog….you know the pandemic hit and I had to become a teacher/cleaner/counselor/cook/entertainer + more in an instant so the blog had to hop in the back seat and chill.... But I’m back! And I’m excited to team up with my friends Home Centric and share a couple of easy tips to spruce up your front door! Even though we aren’t having guests over/inside at the moment, it still feels good to show our homes some love – even just to make us feel a bit better, right? Times are crazy and I’m all about finding joy in the small things!

Anyways, let’s get to the tips!

1. Clean up!

It’s amazing what a little power washing sesh can do on a deck or driveway, right? I get out the leaf blower and clear out all of the dirt + debris + spiderwebs and then hit it with the hose. There is nothing design-y (or revolutionary, for that matter) about this tip but I love starting any type of project/activity with a clean slate!

scs-homecentric-summer-2020-4.jpg

2. Update with paint.

If you can’t replace an old door, you can always paint it! Try experimenting with a bold color (or go dark!) to create contrast with your home’s siding/trim. And swap out dated hardware with something fresh + modern.

3. Let there be light.

Changing out an old light (or one you don’t like) is always a good idea! It’s a super easy and very impactful little change to up your curb appeal. For more impact, go big on the sconces!

4. Pull up a chair.

A place to sit, read or even chat with a neighbor (at 6’ distance, of course) instantly creates a warm and inviting vibe.

5. Add in some color and/or life.

A couple of potted flowers placed by the front door is an easy way to add a nice color pop! For some added interest, try varying sizes of plant stands or stools to play with height and create layers.

scs-homecentric-summer-2020-8.jpg

6. Accessorize!

Warm-up your entry by adding in a welcoming wreath. Swap out the basic house numbers for something clean and modern to catch the eye. For a polished and sophisticated look, try matching the house numbers, entrance hardware, mailbox in the same color, finish or style.

scs-homecentric-summer-2020-6.jpg
scs-homecentric-summer-2020-5.jpg
front-door-styling-guide.jpg

Even though the inside of my house is a mess, I can step outside on the front porch for a moment of peace and quiet. And that is something we could all use!

A dark + cozy cottage office for the art (and golf!) lovers

moody-cottage-2.jpg

Dark interiors are really having a moment and I am very much on board! To be honest, they used to intimidate me. Dark paint colors, that is. But now I want to paint everything dark! (the wall color here is Sherwin Williams Seaworthy) It has depth and soul and is the perfect backdrop for a beautiful mirror, a warm wood-toned dresser or a carefully curated gallery wall.

And speaking of gallery walls and art, I’m super excited to share this dark & cozy office cottage with you today! We teamed up with our friends over at Lie + Loft who create beautiful golf-inspired prints, photography, pottery and other goods that marry their love of golf and home and styled out this (already very cute) cottage house.

Let’s take a little tour!

moody-cottage-6.jpg

leather chair / leather ottoman / throw (similar) / floor lamp / rug / sisal wallpaper / prints from left to right: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

If I’m being honest I’m not a golfer. Like I have zero clues on any of it and have only been to a driving range once in my life (and I was TERRIBLE)! But my clients happen to be avid golfers and lovers of great design so when I found this great local source that connected home + golf, it was a match made in heaven!

We worked together to curate that narrow gallery wall with a mix of their beautiful prints and paintings. I love how each piece is a bit different in style and medium but they all connect and flow beautifully!

moody-cottage-3.jpg
moody-cottage-5.jpg
moody-cottage-4.jpg
moody-cottage-10.jpg

This little cottage is part lounge area and part office as you can see the built-ins on the other side of the room. It actually has 2 bathrooms and a bedroom upstairs but all in tiny size. It’s very very cute!

We styled the built-ins with books, vintage, found objects and of course more of those fantastic framed prints from Lie + Loft.

Are you feeling the dark vibes as much as I am? And how good are those prints?!

A roundup of really cool writing desks under $250

space-room-6.jpg

rug / desk chair / desk / wallpaper / task lamp / planet mobile / XO print / string lights

Happy Monday, friends!

I hope you are staying sane + healthy in these crazy uncertain times! I don’t know about you, but I could have never imagined we would be living in a reality like the current one! Stay safe, slow down and enjoy being home! We will get through this!

Speaking of home, raise your hands if you are living that work from home life? (I’ve been here for years…) My husband is currently parked in his home office (that really needs a make over…more on that soon!) as are many of our friends and colleagues.

With all the good sales currently happening, I thought it would be fun to round up some affordable, aesthetically pleasing writing desks for folks looking to create a tiny office nook in their homes. Or – they could be for your kids since they are all home too and living that online learning life! Pictured above is my son’s desk (which is currently covered in legos and birdseed) and it’s such a good one!

junes-room-2.jpg

So good, in fact, I have used it in multiple projects!

I’ve rounded up 17 desks (including the one I previously mentioned) that would be perfect in a small space or a carved out nook in your home. They are also very affordable, with most under $200. As I mentioned, everything is on sale right now too. If you are working from home and want to spruce up your space with a cute desk, keep scrolling! (The links are below the image).

room reveal: a teen's dreamy retreat

I’ve said it before and I’ll likely say it again – kid’s rooms are my favorites type of projects to work on. You can let loose, break a rule or two and just have fun with the design! And this latest project is no exception! Ya’ll know I love pattern mixing and the usual suspects are present here – stripes, florals and geometrics mixed in with some lovely textures and touches of blue (of course!)

This teen’s room was so much fun to style! My client and I decided to use some of her daughter’s existing pieces to cut down on waste/cost and then add in a couple of new things to spruce up the room and make it feel fresh and new.

Let’s check out a couple of the before shots of the room:

Think of this as more a re-fresh than a full-blown makeover…the room just needed a bit of polish and personality as it already had a good bit of character (the house was built in the 1930’s and is amazing).

We started with that gorgeous blooming garland mural from Anewall. It’s impactful and yet also quiet, which is the vibe we were going for. We kept the bedding but layered in some texture with a couple of pillows and my favorite Amazon throw. And since you can never have enough texture, we added some inexpensive curtain panels (that my client picked up from our local Home Goods) to frame out the windows and cozy the room up a bit.

This place is very pattern happy, huh! And for that reason, we chose that awesome striped rug (that I have used in multiple projects) to ground the space and balance out the patterns.

On the other side of the room, we kept the writing desk (similar one) but swapped out the old bulletin board for a fabulous custom made pegboard from MadeModVB. I really feel like pegboards are having a moment right now and I am all for that! Functional + aesthetically pleasing is a winning combo in my book!

A roundup of terrazzo goodness for your home

terrazzo-lamp-office.jpg

Terrazzo is back (again).

Well, technically….it’s been back and very on-trend for the last couple of years and it’s no surprise to me with such universal love of all things Mid-Century modern in the last 5-10 years. In case you have no clue what I’m referring to – this playful, confetti-like material is a composite consisting of chips of marble, quartz, granite and glass and can usually be seen on walls and floors. It’s more commonly associated with schools, metro stations, and 1970s office buildings than with our homes until now.

The latest versions of terrazzo surfaces play with scale + color and serve as a fun graphic element, where past versions (especially from the 70’s) were a bit duller and condensed. There are a ton of beautiful bathrooms and kitchens on Pinterest that are drool-worthy, but you can also find the speckled goodness in home decor, accessories, furniture, lighting….even jewelry. The material is so versatile – the sky is the limit!

Let’s get into some terrazzo eye candy from around the inter-webs:

Gah, I love it!

If you aren’t ready for a full on terrazzo bathroom, I’ve rounded up some smaller items to scratch that itch and add some speckled flavor to your home. The links are below the graphic.

Room Reveal: a sunny + refreshed kitchen/breakfast nook combo

white-breakfast-nook.jpg

round rug / shell chair / table / throw (similar) / fiddle leaf fig / vase / pendant

Hello and happy Thursday!

I’m excited to share some client goodness today in the form of a refreshed kitchen and breakfast nook! You may remember the dining room and living room I shared last year from these same local clients. I have no idea why it took me so long to share this last space, but there is nothing like the present to change that, so let’s check it out!

But first, we need to see the before shots!

My clients wanted their space to feel fresh, modern and better reflect their style and personality. When we started, everything felt very beige, brown and a bit dull so we painted all the walls a fresh coat of Benjamin Moore Gray Owl (one of my fav warm greys). Gray Owl has just the right balance of warm/cool undertones and was the perfect foundation for the other colors and design elements to shine.

We kept their pretty glass dining table and added those classic Modernica Side Shell Chairs to pay homage to their love of Mid-Century Modern style. We added that amazing open weave pendant and swapped out the carpet panels for that fun round rug to ground everything out! I love how light and airy the space feels now!

Moving on to the kitchen and continuing that light and airy vibe…we painted their nice maple cabinets a fresh coat of white (BM Chantilly Lace, a classic) and swapped out the pulls for my fav modern matte black ones from Schoolhouse Electric. Classic + modern, just the way I like it!

My clients didn’t want to completely overhaul the kitchen – but instead wanted more of a facelift and we mostly achieved that with paint. We did swap out the tile for that dreamy marble herringbone, which I love so much. I wish they would have tiled all the way up to the ceiling though!

And I couldn’t forget the little island! In addition to swapping out the pendants, we painted the island BM Gentlemen’s Grey, which feels fresh and modern but also classic and tailored. I love how it plays against that amazing runner and brings this kitchen to life with that amazing color!

Isn’t it amazing what a little bit of paint, lighting, a few new pieces and some decor can do? I had so much fun working on this project and I hope you have enjoyed this little tour!

As always, I’ve got all of the sources below in case you curious and need more details! The links are below the image.

Cheers, friends!

Guest bath reveal: all the sources

guest-bath-2.jpg

Happy Friday, friends!

I’m excited to finally share the full guest bathroom today including all of the sources! Truth be told, this bathroom has been complete for some time and I’m embarrassed for the delay in posting here! I’ve been trying this thing – where I do one thing at a time and sometimes (unfortunately) the blog takes a back seat and gets a bit neglected. My hat is off to the bloggers and biz ladies out there that post everyday or multiple times per week. Maybe one day I’ll get there….

Anyways, back to the task at hand – sharing this bathroom that I’m very fond and proud of! Let’s get to it!

guest-bath-4.jpg

mirror | pulls | knobs | backsplash tile | faucet | sconce | hand soap | hand lotion | tray

The Tile

This bathroom is basically a wet room! (and I’m totally on board for this). So much tile! I chose three different patterns – simple 4 x 4 white subway tile for the shower area, a gorgeous marble mosaic tile backsplash for the vanity and that moody midnight blue herringbone tile for the floor. I am totally team tile everything!

We used the same grout I have used in all of the subway tile in my home – Pro Grout Excel Whisper Grey. It’s the perfect light/medium gray! We painted the walls SW Pure White to balance all the patterns and textures from the tile.

The Vanity

I repurposed the existing vanity box and replaced the older countertop with yummy Carrara marble, complete with a fun waterfall edge! I also swapped out the hardware with some Mid-Century modern style knobs and pulls from Schoolhouse Electric. I found those really awesome pill-shaped brass mirrors from Target and they ended up fitting the space perfectly! And they were so cheap! ($39.99!)

The Lighting

Well, technically it’s just one light, but man it’s worth mentioning! This bistro double sconce is everything – the epitome of beautiful design and quality craftsmanship. I would like several more for the rest of my house, please!

guest-bath-12.jpg

The Modern Barn Door

This is my first experience with one of these, despite them being all the rage in the interiors world. I’m happy to say I get the hype! This modern beauty I selected for the closet really amps up the style factor and gives the room a custom feel.

guest-bath-7-2.jpg

The Tub

We opted for a deep alcove tub with clean lines and a modern sensibility. My kids especially appreciate the deepness of the tub for bubble bath parties! All of the beautiful matte black fixtures are from Delta (as detailed here).

Everything Else

The little details are the best bits! My favorite would have to be those custom door handles that look like they came out of a craftsman home from the 1930s! They really level up + elevate the builder grade doors!

Another little delight for me would be the Danish hand soap and lotion that I found on Amazon! The scent is so light, delicate and fresh and takes me back to Copenhagen!

As usual, I’ve rounded up everything below (except for the rug pictured, which unfortunately they discontinued). All the links are below the graphic.

Guest bath reveal: the (delish matte black) fixtures

guest-bath-3-2.jpg

Hello and happy Monday, friends!

With a new year, comes new projects! And I’m so excited to share our recently renovated guest bathroom! This bathroom is a pattern, texture and tile (ha) rich haven, but today I’m going to focus on the bathroom fixtures in that delicious Matte Black finish.

Let’s check it out!

guest-bath-9.jpg

Last year, I was lucky enough to visit the headquarters of Delta Faucet in Indianapolis, Indiana where I toured their entire facility. I got to see how their amazing faucets and fixtures came to life – from soup to nuts and it was such a wonderful experience. The talent, hard work and passion that goes into their products was so inspiring! From innovation and technology to quality, conservation and beautiful design, their faucets are my go-to when selecting products for any project (including my own).

guest-bath-10.jpg

So when it came time to renovate our guest bathroom, I jumped at the chance to partner with them and feature Delta faucets. They do Matte Black very, very well, so I opted for that finish throughout the space.  I started with those classic + elegant Chamberlain Widespread Faucets from Home Depot, which are incredibly well-made, stately and design-forward. I love all the details plus Matte Black paired with marble is never a bad idea!

guest-bath-6.jpg

Then in the tub, we installed a raincan shower head with the Emerge Shower Column from the Home Depot– a total beauty in Matte Black! oh, la la! I have actually never used one of these before so you can imagine what a treat it was for me to shower in here for the first time! Shower dreams do come true, my friends! And over the holidays, my family members were lining up to test it out! (not actually true, but my sister and brother-in-law did rave!). Also, I highly recommend a hand shower for a kid’s bathroom for easy bathing and tub clean up!

guest-bath-7-2.jpg

I’m super duper happy with how the space turned out! It’s basically the bathroom of my dreams and I’m so grateful to get to work with a brand like Delta Faucet to bring it all to life!

Come back tomorrow for the rest of the reveal, including links to all of the other sources!
